LAS VEGAS – CG software developer The Foundry aims to extend its reach in postproduction with the unveiling of Nuke Studio, an all-in-one visual effects, editorial and finishing application that's scheduled to be available later this year.

The announcement about Nuke Studio, which is effectively an extension of its Nuke compositing system and includes tools designed for collaboration, was made Monday during the NAB show.
“We’ve spent a long time working with a wide range of artists from around the world to properly understand the challenges and requirements of today’s industry,” said Nuke product marketing manager Philippa Carroll. “We know that artists are under greater and greater pressure to turn around projects faster and that calls for a solution that gives them more power, control and flexibility.”

According to The Foundry, planned features include a combined timeline and node-graph system, a hub that lets artists work collaboratively with annotation capabilities, GPU accelerated effects and real-time 4K playback. A built-in render farm is designed to automatically use available resources to increase speed.
