NASA, Amazon Web Services and AWS Elemental's first public 4K video live stream from the International Space Station will receive recognition during this year's Hollywood Professional Association Awards on Nov. 16. The recipients will be honored with the Judges Award for Creativity and Innovation at the ceremony where the HPA will present honors for color grading, editing, sound and VFX.

The live stream originated 250 miles above Earth. It was accessible for the public to view on 4K devices and aired on multiple screens during this year's NAB Show at the Las Vegas Convention Center on April 26. According to NASA, the 4K video development will help them to discover further knowledge of orbital and deep space as well as better monitor experiments and spacecraft performance.

“The technology and workflow that enabled last spring’s inspiring live 4K broadcast from the ISS will be further used by NASA in conducting scientific research and sharing its work with the public. On behalf of the jury and the HPA, it is an honor to recognize the tremendous achievement born of this partnership," said jury co-chairs Carolyn Giardina and Joachim Zell.

NASA's International Space Station Program's communication manager Dylan Mathis added in a statement, "NASA is honored to receive this award from HPA. The project was important to our team for many reasons, including its advancement of scientific progress while also offering an exceptionally engaging viewing experience to people who simply want to see what the ISS really looks like, the astronauts onboard and incredible images from space.”

Additionally, Colorfront, Dolby, SGO and Red will receive Hollywood Professional Association Engineering Excellence Awards and Larry Chernoff will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award during the HPA ceremony.
