Nokia and Technicolor chose the opening day of E3 to announce a virtual reality partnership around the Nokia OZO+ virtual reality camera and content creation tools, which reside at the Technicolor Experience Center (TEC) in Culver City.

The goal of the center is to help advance the content creation side of the emerging VR business. That includes filmmaking education, and to that end the companies plan to begin offering a series of 360-degree-filmmaking classes.

Additionally, per the non-exclusive agreement, the Nokia gear is available to companies looking to create VR experiences at the center.

“Nokia has invested a lot of time and research in understanding how to provide content creators with the tools they need to produce high-quality image capture,” said Marcie Jastrow, Technicolor’s senior vp of immersive media and head of the TEC.

Expect related news this week, as the TEC is hosting an open house on Thursday.
