Oculus Says All Rift Preorders Have Now Shipped

Oculus, the Facebook-owned maker of the Oculus Rift virtual reality headset, announced that its Connect 3 developers conference will be held Oct. 5-7 at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center.

Oculus CEO Brendan Iribe, Chief Technology Officer John Carmack and chief scientist Michael Abrash are scheduled to speak, and the event will again offer a glimpse at the company’s Rift development plans, including for its Touch VR hand controller. which is scheduled to ship later this year with at least 30 VR experiences available for the system at launch.

Oculus also announced Tuesday that all Rift preorders have now shipped (Rift was released March 28), and new orders are now shipping within two to four business days.

The company, which hasn’t revealed sales figures, also said it’s ramping up its retail inventory.

The Rift is priced at $599 and additionally requires a supported computer to operate. Pricing and a release date for Touch haven’t yet been announced.

Connect 2 was held last September at Hollywood & Highland.
