Oscars: 20 Films Move Forward in Visual Effects Race

Contenders range from 'Star Wars: The Last Jedi' to 'The Shape of Water.'

Twenty films remain in contention for this season's Oscar for visual effects, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences revealed Monday.

Later this month, the committee will select the 10 films that will advance to nominations voting.

The 20 films are:

Ghost in the Shell
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle
Justice League
Kong: Skull Island
Life
Logan
Okja

The Shape of Water
Spider-Man Homecoming
Star Wars: The Last Jedi
Thor: Ragnarok
Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets
