Next VR, a startup that is developing technology to enable live and on-demand virtual reality experiences, is forming an advisory board chaired by Peter Guber, founder and CEO of Mandalay Entertainment, who will also make a capital investment in the business.

Additionally joining the board are Scott Teissler, formerly of Turner Broadcasting, and Doug Perlman, founder and CEO of Sports Media Advisors.

NextVR has been testing its technology with organizations such as the NBA and Fox Sports. "For those who haven't experienced it yet, it's hard to imagine what NextVR is capable of delivering with their live virtual reality technology. They have engineered the closest thing to putting you in the best seat in the house virtually that is possible," said Guber in a statement. "It's a game changer for live sports, festivals, concerts, shopping, and travel."

He discussed such potential last month during his keynote at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Show.

The Mandalay founder also co-owns the Golden State Warriors of the NBA, the Los Angeles Dodgers of MLB and the Los Angeles Football Club of Major League Soccer. And he is owner and chairman of Dick Clark Productions.

Teissler is former executive vp, CTO and chief digital strategy officer for Turner Broadcasting System. Earlier, he was senior vp new media strategy and CTO for CNN.

Perlman is a veteran sports media executive who held leadership roles with the National Hockey League and IMG before founding Sports Media Advisors, an advisory firm focused on the intersection of sports, television and digital platforms.
