Warner Bros.' Suicide Squad won the Oscar for makeup and hair styling. It was the first Academy Award for Alessandro Bertolazzi, Giorgio Gregorini and Christopher Nelson.

Accepting the award, Italian Bertolazzi dedicated the win "to all the immigrants."

Backstage, he talked about the pressure of bringing superheroes to life: “It’s an incredible pressure. With the pressure you can do nothing. You have to use your experience. You forget the pressure, you forget the studio, you just do what you can do.”

Suicide Squad topped a field that included Star Trek Beyond (Star Trek won this category, then best achievement in makeup, in 2010) and Sweden’s foreign-language contender A Man Called Ove.
