Ted Sarandos To Be Honored by Cinematographers Guild Publicists

The Netflix CCO will receive the Television Showman of the Year honor at the ICG Publicists Awards at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Feb 20.

The Publicists of the International Cinematographers Guild has named Ted Sarandos their Television Showman of the Year.

The Netflix chief content officer, responsible for the platform's lineup including House of Cards and Orange Is the New Black, will be honored at the 52nd ICG Publicists Awards, to be held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Feb. 20.

"He has become recognized for creating new avenues of distribution for entertainment content,” Henri Bollinger, awards committee chairman, said in a statement. "He clearly personifies the very essence of showmanship!”

ICG president Steven Poster added, "Netflix, under Ted Sarandos's leadership and innovation, has added a radical new dimension to the way we watch content. And it works because the quality of the production is at the highest level."

Past recipients of the award include Jerry BruckheimerLes MoonvesPeter Roth, Fred Silverman, Aaron Spelling, NinaTassler, Grant Tinker, Marcy Carsey, Chris Carter, Chris McCumber, Ted Harbert, Bob Hope, David E. Kelley, Norman Lear, Steven Bochco, Caryn Mandabach, Garry Marshall, Jeff Wachtel and Tom Werner.

Other awards to be presented at the awards luncheon include the previously-announced Motion Picture Showmanship Award to Bob and Harvey Weinstein, the Lifetime Achievement Award to Bob Newhart and the President's Award to Cheryl Boone Isaacs, among other accolades noting the best publicity campaigns of 2014 in films and television, unit still photography, press and international media awards.
