With the Frankfurt Book Fair kicking off in six days, on Oct. 14, there's a flurry of activity expected on the book-to-screen–deal front. Among the hottest properties making the rounds is Rebecca Ross' latest, Impassioned, the book rights for which were quickly nabbed by HarperCollins in a major preemptive deal, making a film rights pact all the more likely.
The Clasp (Farrar, Straus and Giroux) by Sloane Crosley
The New York literary scene's "It" girl has made every hot-reads list with this lighthearted adventure about three 20-something college friends whose chance meeting with an old woman at a wedding sets them off on a global pursuit of a valuable necklace lost in France during World War II.
Impassioned (Harper Teen) by Rebecca Ross
Agency: New Leaf Literary & Media
Imagine Game of Thrones' Jon Snow as a female and a dose of Gladiator-like political intrigue and you've got a sense of this just-sold YA trilogy. The last deal between New Leaf and Harper yielded Victoria Aveyard's No. 1 best-seller Red Queen, now being developed by Universal for Elizabeth Banks to direct.
