21st Century Fox said Tuesday that it has hired former journalist Jonathan Bing as its new senior vp corporate communications.
In the newly created role, he will oversee all communications and media relations for the Fox Networks Group, supporting executive, legal, distribution, monetization, human resources and internal communications functions, in addition to handling 21st Century Fox-related matters.
He will report jointly to FNG chairman and CEO Peter Rice, president and COO Randy Freer, and 21st Century Fox’s chief communications officer Julie Henderson.
He will be based in L.A.; his appointment is effective immediately.
Bing is a former reporter and editor for Daily Variety, where he worked from 2000 to 2006, and after that he launched and oversaw the Los Angeles office of Freud Communications, focusing on media relations and marketing campaigns for such clients as Walt Disney, Sony Pictures and NBCUniversal.
Most recently, Bing had been running his own boutique public relations firm, Bing Communications Group, specializing in entertainment, technology and trade organizations.
“Jonathan is an incredibly accomplished communications executive who brings to FNG a keen understanding of our industry through his work representing and advising key stakeholders,” said Rice. “We are confident he will be a strategic and energetic voice for our businesses as well as a valuable partner for FNG’s brands and networks.”
