Global Screen has locked up the first international sales for Rivals Forever – The Sneaker Battle, a period mini-series on the family feud behind global sportswear brands Puma and Adidas.
Global Screen closed deals for Scandinavia and Eastern Europe for the four-part mini, produced by Quirin Berg and Max Wiedemann, the producers behind Oscar-winning The Lives of Others.
The series follows Adi and Rudi Dassler, two German brothers who, in the 1920s, launch a sports shoe company but grow steadily farther apart. Following World War II, the siblings become rivals, each founding his own, competing sneaker company — Adidas and Puma. Both Adi and Rudi died in the 1970s but the sneaker rivalry has continued into the next generation.
Hanno Koffler, Christian Friedel, Alina Levshin and Hannah Herzsprung star in Rivals Forever, which will premiere on German TV next year.
