APA has launched a public relations arm, The Hollywood Reporter has exclusively learned. In another development for the talent agency, APA PR will be based out of its brand-new Atlanta office. (It also will have a presence in the agency’s existing New York and Los Angeles locations.)
“Agencies have become the nexus of entertainment and PR is the next logical step,” APA board member Brian Dow, who serves as managing partner of the new venture, said in a statement. “I could not be more thrilled with the team of entertainment and lifestyle publicists we have assembled.”
That bicoastal team includes Sheila Munguia, Jenna Hudson, Lauren Kenyon, Melissa Cassorla and Michelle Schwartz. They will be led by former Rogers & Cowan executive Maggie Gallant, who has joined APA as executive vice president. Over the course of her 17-year career in communications, Gallant has engineered campaigns for networks (HGTV, DIY Network, Oxygen, Bravo, Discovery, Lifetime), brands (Dylan’s Candy Bar, Skinnygirl Cocktails, Kardashian Beauty, Kardashian Kids), retailers (Target, Macy’s, Neiman Marcus, Sephora, ULTA Beauty) and events (The Kentucky Derby, Billboard Music Awards) as well as celebrities (Fergie) and consumer groups.
APA PR is kicking off with a client roster that includes HGTV, DIY Network, Spanx, DirecTV’s Rogue and Kingdom, former BCBGeneration creative director Joyce Azria, the Who What Wear Collection, Ole Henriksen, digital estate sale platform Everything but the House, hairstylist Daniel Galvin Jr.’s Organic Head product line and jewelry platform Delgatto.
In January, WME-IMG partnered with PMK*BNC veterans Lewis Kay and Joseph Assad to launch PR firm Kovert Creative as a joint venture. Unlike APA PR, Kovert is run independently from WME-IMG.
