TORONTO — Fernando Meirelles’ Cannes opener “Blindness” will launch the Atlantic Film Festival on Sept. 11, organizers said Friday.
Halifax will unspool “Blindness,” a Canada/Brazil/Japan co-production, after the drama thriller screens at the Toronto International Film Festival, and before an Oct. 3 Canadian theatrical release via Alliance Films.
The Julianne Moore starrer from Brazilian director Meirelles (“City of God”), also will complement the Atlantic Canadian festival’s co-production market Strategic Partners, which this year will focus on producers and projects from Brazil, Mexico and Argentina.
The 28th annual Atlantic Film Festival is set for Sept. 11-20.
