DirecTV beams ‘Galactica’
Sci Fi Channel has partnered with DirecTV for a sponsorship package of “Battlestar Galactica” (pictured) in which the satellite provider will sponsor every episode with on-air ads and a customized promo spot highlighting the 360-degree cross-platform partnership. DirecTV’s sponsorship of “Galactica” will be featured at SciFi.com. DirecTV also will sponsor the SMS mobile alerts sent by the channel to “Galactica” viewers.
Beer and shots earn celebration
Heineken USA has created the Heineken Red Star Award to recognize and celebrate the originality, innovation and vision of today’s indie film directors. Created in partnership with Premiere magazine, the award will be awarded at eight indie festivals this year. In November, the winners will gather in Los Angeles as Heineken showcases the films.
iVillage, Uni team ‘Because’ they can
NBC Universal’s iVillage Properties is teaming with sister company Universal Pictures to promote “Because I Said So,” which stars Diane Keaton and Mandy Moore. The partnership includes a movie microsite on iVillage.com featuring trailers and clips, a Q&A session with the stars and more. IVillage Live also will promote “Because” with a segment on mother-daughter relationships.
SAG ensemble for Turner, marketing partners
Turner Entertainment is partnering with marketing partners including Listerine, L’Oreal Paris, MasterCard, Nestle USA and Subaru of America for Sunday’s 13th annual SAG Awards, which will be simulcast live on TNT and TBS.
