ROME — Sam Taylor-Wood’s “Nowhere Boy” will be the opening film at the Turin Film Festival, organizers announced Wednesday.
The Nov. 13-21 discovery festival will be headed this year by noted film director Gianni Amelio, who took over after fellow Nanni Moretti returned to film directing after a two-year stint at Turin’s helm.
“Nowhere Boy,” based on the book “Imagine: Growing Up With My Brother John Lennon,” is Taylor-Wood’s first feature film, though her short film “Love You More” did screen in the short film competition in Cannes last year.
“Nowhere Boy” will be the closing film at the London Film Festival in October, about two weeks before appearing in Turin.
