NEW YORK — CBS Radio is rejigging and centralizing its management structure as the unit of CBS Corp. continues its revamp and become more successful and financially stronger.
Dan Mason, president and CEO of CBS Radio, has assumed oversight of stations in Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Detroit, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, Philadelphia, San Francisco and Washington.
All other CBS Radio stations will be overseen by Scott Herman, who was promoted to executive vp operations. He was executive vp Eastern region.
CBS Radio also has named Michael Weiss president of sales. Weiss was president of sales for the CBS Radio division of national radio sales firm Interep. He replaces Michael Kincaid, who cited medical reasons for his resignation. The company didn’t provide further specifics, but said Kincaid will take on a new position within CBS that will be decided later.
“This reorganization is designed to implement a streamlined chain of command moving our division toward a more fully responsive and profitable position,” Mason said. “Our ratings have improved, and a new head of sales will help us better monetize our recent success.”
He added that “enhancing our relationships with national advertisers” will be one of Weiss’ key duties.
“We have a tremendous opportunity ahead of us to take advantage of the strength of our combined traditional and new-media assets, as well as our ability to target a myriad of consumers across several locations and demographics,” Weiss said.
As part of the executive rejig, Don Bouloukos, a regional vp, was promoted to senior vp and market manager for New York, as well as senior vp and GM of sports station WFAN-AM.
Mason took over CBS Radio this year (HR 3/27).
