Joe Ferullo has been promoted to executive vp of current programming, it was announced Thursday by Hilary Estey McLoughlin, president of creative affairs for CBS Television Distribution.
Ferullo will now oversee current first run series including Entertainment Tonight, Judge Judy, Rachel Ray, inside Edition, The Insider, Dr. Phil, The Doctors and the division’s newest show Hot Bench, which launches next week.
“Joe is an exceptionally talented, respected and well-rounded creative executive,” said Estey McLoughlin in a statement, “and his leadership has proven invaluable in keeping our shows at the top of every genre.”
Estey McLoughlin also announced that producer Becky Brooks is joining the CBS division as vp of current programming, reporting to Ferullo.
Estey McLoughlin called them “a formidable team.”
Ferullo has been with CBS TV Distribution since 2006 originally as vp of programming and development. In 2012, he was promoted to senior vp.
He is credited with playing a role in content partnerships between E.T. and MSN; and another between The Insider and Yahoo! He also was involved in the publication of a commemorative book about Inside Edition’s 25 years on air.
He has won a WGA award for a news report on the conflict in the Middle East; an Emmy as part of a NBC News team that reported on 9/11; and an Education Writers Award with Maria Shriver for reports on inner city schools.
Before CBS, Ferullo was a producer at NBC and NBC News, where he worked on Dateline NBC doing investigations and special reports. He also wrote and produced a primetime special on the series Friends.
Before NBC, Ferullo worked at ABC News and in the news department of CBS stations in New York and L.A. He also wrote for Rolling Stone magazine.
Brooks has worked as a producer for nine years on E.T. and The Insider. She has been a supervising producer for those shows and a senior broadcast producer. Most recently she was co-executive producer on The Insider.
Brooks began her career working as a news writer for ABC, KCAL and KCBS. She was also a field producer for Access Hollywood.
