Courtesy of BHB PRCharles “Chuck” Dages has been named Chairman of the Board of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, the group that presents the News & Documentary, Sports and Daytime Emmys, among others.
According to an announcement Wednesday, Dages will be involved in NATAS programming, sponsorship and marketing and increasing the group’s recognition in TV and media industries.
He is expected to take a hands on role well beyond what the honorary role of a chairman usually involves.
NATAS has not had a CEO since Paul Price left in 2009. Since then Carolyn Grippi servced as COO and CFO, but she left three months ago.

Dages replaces Malachy Wienges, an Arizona broadcaster, who as chairman had been helping guide NATAS since it last had a CEO. Wienges is now Chairman Emeritus.
NATAS, based in New York, is separate from the Television Academy in Los Angeles which gives out the Creative Arts and Primetime Emmys.
Dages is a former Warner Bros. executive. During nearly 20 years at the studio he was involved in technology for production, post-production and distribution of features, TV and interactive. He left Warner Bros. in March 2013.
He also directed Warner Bros. involvement with the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief, a partnership between the studio and the U.S. State Department, which earned him the Global Business Coalition Award.
He is also a longtime member of NATAS, where he most recently served as co-chair of the awards committee. He has been involved with the Technology & Engineering Emmys, which NATAS presents, since 1985.
