Comcast International Media Group is making its debut on the international stage at MIPCOM, with a full rebrand and a major thrust into all programming platforms as part of a major restructuring.
Kevin MacLellan, previously president of E! Networks, has been named president of Comcast International Media Group, the company said Thursday. CIMG is the newly created, widely expanded entity that was E! Networks.
CIMG now includes E! along with the Style Network, G4, Versus, the Golf Channel and Exercise TV. MacLellan oversees the entire division, including program licensing, new channel launches and new-media content.
The U.S. media conglomerate is rolling out its content internationally at MIPCOM across all platforms — television, VOD, mobile and broadband, MacLellan said.
His strategy includes launching the Style Network worldwide, first in Poland and Africa. And CIMG soon will launch the Golf Channel globally, he said.
CIMG also will launch a global VOD channel suite and expand E! Online to six new countries.
Also rolling out internationally this year for the first time is E! Online, the Web destination for entertainment and pop culture fans, in localized versions in six countries: Canada, the U.K., Australia, Germany, Italy and France. In addition to previously launched sites in Spanish and Hebrew, the new site will be translated into German, Italian and French.
