Tang Wei, who stars in Focus Features’ “Lust, Caution,” will be honored as Asian Female Star of the Year at CineAsia 2007, the industry confab held in Macau from Tuesday through Dec. 6.
Born in Hangzhou, China, Tang graduated from the Central Academy of Drama in Beijing with a major in film directing. In 2006, she won the best actress award at the 2006 CCTV Movie Channel Awards for her work in TV drama.
“Lust,” a period tale of romance and espionage directed by Ang Lee, is her first big-screen role.
Tang will be presented with the award at the final night banquet and awards ceremony. The convention, to be held at the Wynn Macau & Macau Tower, is produced and managed by the Nielsen Film Group, a division of Nielsen Business Media, parent company of The Hollywood Reporter.
