Erlina Suharjono, senior vp Asia distribution at Warner Bros. Pictures International, will be honored as distributor of the year at CineAsia, set for Dec. 4-6 at the Wynn Macau and Macau Tower.
Suharjono is being recognized for her achievements in the distribution and marketing of American-made films in the Asia-Pacific region, including China.
“In the world of distribution, you couldn’t ask for a more dedicated and respected professional who has done so much for her company in bringing American films into the hearts and minds of so many moviegoers throughout the Asia-Pacific region,” said Mitch Neuhauser, co-managing director of the event.
Suharjono also recently assumed duties as chief representative of Warner New Asia, supervising the distribution of American-made films in China. She is based at the division’s Hong Kong office, reporting to Veronika Kwan-Rubinek and Sue Kroll, presidents of distribution and marketing, respectively.
Suharjono supervises distribution and marketing in Asia through the Warners network of affiliate offices and licensees in the region. She also is involved in the licensing of Warners theatrical rights to Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Bangladesh.
Suharjono joined Warners in 1993 as an assistant marketing manager and a year later was named regional distribution manager of Asia.
She then joined Cathay, where she was vp and GM of the entertainment division in Singapore.
In 2000, she rejoined Warners as regional marketing director of Asia and was promoted to vp Asia and GM of Hong Kong in 2001.
CineAsia is produced and managed by the Nielsen Film Group, a division of Nielsen Business Media, parent company of The Hollywood Reporter.
