Columbia Pictures has ac-quired Kurt Wimmer’s spy-thriller spec “Edwin A. Salt.” Lorenzo di Bonaventura is producing alongside Sunil Perkash.
The fictional film centers on Edwin A. Salt, a CIA officer who is fingered as a Russian sleeper spy. He eludes capture by superiors who are convinced that he is out to assassinate the president. While trying to reunite with his family, he struggles to prove someone else is the traitor.
There is no director or talent attached.
Sony’s Sam Dickerman is overseeing for the studio with Hannah Minghella, who brought the project into Sony.
Wimmer, whose writing credits include “Ultraviolet,” “The Recruit” and “The Thomas Crown Affair,” has several screenplays in development, including a remake of “Westworld” at Warner Bros. Pictures. He is repped by Endeavor and attorney John LaViolette.
