More than 100 top executives from the world of entertainment, media, technology, finance, real estate and other industries signed a letter sent to Congressional leaders on Wednesday, urging them to pass a new stimulus plan based on President Biden’s “American Rescue Plan.”
“Previous federal relief measures have been essential, but more must be done to put the country on a trajectory for a strong, durable recovery,” the letter says. “The American Rescue Plan provides a framework for coordinated public-private efforts to overcome COVID-19 and to move forward with a new era of inclusive growth. The country’s business community is prepared to work with you to achieve these critical objectives.”
Among the executives signing the letter were Comcast CEO Brian Roberts, AT&T CEO John Stankey, Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai, Take-Two Interactive CEO and media investor Strauss Zelnick, Hearst CEO Steven Swartz, Condé Nast CEO Roger Lynch, Altice CEO Dexter Goei, and Silvercup Studios CEO Alan Suna. The Partnership for New York City organized and sent the letter to Democratic leaders Schumer and Pelosi, and Republican leaders McConnell and McCarthy.
The letter comes as the House of Representatives prepares to finalize and vote on its version of the stimulus bill totaling $1.9 trillion, with the Senate still debating what its priorities will be in the package.
