Drew Welborn has joined UTA as a comedy touring agent. The New York-based, who comes from WME Entertainment, previously worked in the personal appearances department.
“Drew knows comedy, and he will be a great asset as we grow our comedy practice,” said UTA partner and head of comedy touring Nick Nuciforo. “We’re thrilled he’s joining us.”
While at WME, where he started in the Los Angeles mail room, Welborn’s clients included Pete Holmes, Jenny Slate, Ellie Kemper, Grace Helbig, Cristela Alonzo, Jermaine Fowler, Hari Konbabolu, Mark Normand, Jo Firestone, Alex Edelman, Max Silvestri, Megan Gailey, Tommy Johnagin and Jak Knight.
In addition to focusing on emerging comedy talent in touring, Welborn will also represent clients for film, television and digital.
His move comes the same year as Nuciforo’s March over from CAA to lead UTA’s touring department — one of many expansions the agency has seen in 2015.
