LONDON — Disney Channel has signed a multiyear deal with Turkish digital pay TV operation DIGITURK to export such shows as “Hannah Montana” and “Cory in the House” to Turkey, the company said Tuesday.
Disney Channel said the Turkish offering, which follows recent launches in Poland and South Africa, will be available to subscribers beginning at the end of April when it launches exclusively with DIGITURK.
This latest affiliation agreement will be under the management of Disney Channel Italy senior vp and managing director Giorgio Stock.
Said Disney Channels EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) executive vp and managing director John Hardie: “Disney Channel continues to rapidly expand into new markets across the world, playing a key role in introducing the Disney brand to new consumers. Under the daily management of Giorgio Stock, and with the expertise of our new partner DIGITURK, we are poised to build Disney Channel into the leading kids’ TV brand in Turkey.”
DIGITURK general manager Ertan Ozerdem said he was “delighted to enrich our offering with Disney Channel, which will appeal to both families and kids alike.”
Disney Channel Worldwide reps kids’ channels across the world and reaches 600 million viewers in more than 100 countries in the U.S., Europe, the Middle East, Asia Pacific, Latin America and Africa.
Other programming available in Turkey for the first time will include the Emmy-winning “High School Musical” and animated series “Kim Possible” and “American Dragon: Jake Long.”
Disney Channel Turkey will be localized for the market with dubbed programming, promos and interstitials, the company said.
