Walt Disney Television CFO and president of business operations Ravi Ahuja is leaving the company to pursue new opportunities. Peter Rice, the chairman of general entertainment content for The Walt Disney Co., announced Ahuja’s departure in an email Monday morning.
Ahuja will stay on with the company as a consultant while it conducts a search for his replacement.
His departure follows a corporate realignment at The Walt Disney Co. that moved profit and loss responsibilities to a new centralized business unit to be led by Kareem Daniel. Ahuja and Rice cited the new structure for Ahuja’s decision to leave.
“With the reorganization of our business and our pivot to wholly focus on the creation of programming while operations of the networks and management of the P&L moved to DMED, Ravi’s role as president of Business Operations and CFO significantly changed,” Rice wrote in the email. “As much as I hoped he’d stay on, ultimately he decided to take this change as an opportunity to find a new challenge, and I understand and respect his decision.”
“Though the impetus for my decision has been the change in my role, I want to relay the pride I feel for helping to put together the group here and what we have accomplished since the Fox deal closed in March of 2019,” Ahuja wrote in a farewell email to staff.
