COLOGNE, Germany — Klaus Haro’s drama about faith and human frailty, “Letters to Father Jacob” has been picked as Finland’s entry for the Foreign Language Film Oscar.
The film follows the hard-bitten killer Leila, who, pardoned 12 years into a life sentence, ends up living at a rundown parsonage. Slowly she develops a friendship with the elderly pastor Father Jacob and begins the journey of her own redemption.
Produced by Kinotar, “Letters to Father Jacob” is being sold internationally by FilmSharks.
Nominations for the 2010 Foreign Language Film Oscar will be announced Feb.2. The 2010 Academy Awards will be held March 7.
