KENT, UNI SETTLE ‘WAR’
Canadian journalist Arthur Kent said that he has settled a lawsuit against Universal Studios over “Charlie Wilson’s War.” Toronto-based Kent brought the suit in U.S. and Canadian courts in April over the use of portions of his voice and video recordings in the war drama. Terms of the settlement were not disclosed.
‘GRIFFIN’ ON BRAVO’S LIST
Bravo has picked up its Emmy-winning reality series “Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List” for a fifth season. The news comes amid reports that Griffin was looking to take the reality show to another network, but Bravo was quick to shoot that down Friday. “That’s surprising since we’ve picked her up for another season of her series,” the network said.
ALLEN GOING HD
Byron Allen’s Entertainment Studios is launching six high-def channels, all with original content. The company has inked a multiyear deal with Verizon’s FiOS TV for the launch of the networks: Cars.TV, Pets.TV, Comedy.TV, MyDestination.TV, ES.TV and Recipe.TV. They are set to launch this year.
Uma Thurman and Jesse L. Martin have joined the cast of NBC’s holiday special “Letters to Santa — A Muppets Christmas.” Thurman will play a ticket clerk for North Pole Airlines. Martin will play a postal worker who stars in the opening scene, doing a song-and-dance number.
