Sohla El-Waylly, the former Bon Appetit YouTube cooking show host, has signed with Range Media Partners.
“Sohla is a force whose voice is at the forefront of change in our industry. She is the epitome of a true multi-hyphenate and we are honored to work alongside her as advocates for reform both on screen and off,” Kai Gayoso, a Partner at Range Media Partners, said in a statement.
El-Waylly gained attention while with the Bon Appetit Test Kitchen YouTube channel when amid allegations of racism and unequal pay she spoke out about the food publication’s treatment of people of color. El-Waylly eventually left Bon Appetit as a test kitchen star, but not before sparking a movement for more diverse representation in culinary media.
An inductee on this year’s coveted Time100 Next List, El-Waylly is part of the YouTube channel Binging with Babish. Her YouTube special Stump Sohla had over 7.2 million views across the first 5 episodes. El-Waylly is also a resident expert for Food52 with Off Script with Sohla, her curated monthly online column and video series.
Dave Bugliari, Mackenzie Condon Roussos, Rich Cook, Michael Cooper, Susie Fox, Sandra Kang, Rachel Kropa, Chelsea McKinnies, Peter Micelli, Mick Sullivan and Jack Whigham, who left agencies CAA, UTA, and WME, are the founding partners in Range Media Partners, which launched in September 2020.
In addition to Range, El-Waylly is repped by Ashley Silver at Brecheen, Feldman, Breimer, Silver & Thompson, LLP.
