Following Taken and Transporter, another hit action franchise from Luc Besson’s EuropaCorp is moving to the small screen.
German media trade Blickpunkt Film revealed that The Crimson Rivers, a mystery-thriller based on the novels by Jean-Christophe Grange, is being developed as a TV series. The Crimson Rivers was made into two successful features — in 2000 and 2004 — both starring Jean Reno.
Maze Pictures, a newly launched German shingle from veteran producers Philipp Kreuzer and Jorg Schulze, is developing the project together with EuropaCorp.
Franck Ollivier, the writer who helped adapt Besson’s Taxi film franchise into Taxi Brooklyn for NBC, is working with Grange on the Crimson Rivers series. The show is being planned as a procedural targeting free-to-air networks in the Europe and the U.S..
