On the heels of the buzz generated by his work on NBC’s drama pilot “Journeyman,” director Alex Graves has inked a deal with 20th Century Fox Television, the studio behind the project.
“Journeyman” recently was picked up to series for next season.
Under the one-year pact with 20th TV, Emmy winner Graves will continue on “Journeyman” as an executive producer alongside creator/showrunner Kevin Falls for the show’s initial 13-episode order while also writing his own project for the studio. If that project is picked up to pilot, he will segue into directing/executive producing duties on it. Otherwise, he could stay on “Journeyman” if the series gets a full-season order or direct another 20th TV pilot.
“I am a huge fan of Kevin Falls and am thrilled to have the opportunity to do a series with him,” Graves said. “The level of support from 20th Century Fox Television and NBC has been amazing.”
20th TV president Dana Walden said the studio brass was very impressed by Graves’ work on the “Journeyman” pilot.
“He is equal parts organized showrunner and inspired director,” Walden said. “We’re pleased to get to know him and hope our relationship will continue for years to come.”
This is Graves’ second consecutive pilot to get to series. Last year, he directed the pilot for the critically praised ABC drama “The Nine” and was an executive producer on the series.
For his directing work on Aaron Sorkin’s drama “The West Wing,” Graves earned an Emmy nomination. Graves also served as a writer/executive producer on the White House drama, winning two best drama series Emmys alongside Sorkin, Falls and the rest of the series’ producing team.
Graves is repped by CAA and attorney Craig Emanuel.
