There’s a bit of shuffling in the ranks of Hollywood’s top law firms.
Glen Rothstein is joining Greenberg Glusker as a new partner. The attorney was a founding partner at Blank Rome and helped one of the largest firms in the nation open a Los Angeles office in 2009.
He represents a wide diversity of clients in entertainment, interactive gaming and digital media. Among others, he represents Lionsgate, Mark Damon’s Foresight Unlimited, David Guy Levy‘s Periscope Entertainment, Namco Bandai Games and video game notables such as Bruce McMillan and Christopher Roberts.
Rothstein graduated in 1995 from UCLA School of Law.
“Glen is business-minded and has a pragmatic approach to client representation, service and problem solving as well as a respected reputation for strong and aggressive advocacy,” says Greenberg Glusker managing partner Stephen Smith. “In dispute resolution, he successfully attempts to avoid protracted and expensive litigation, whenever possible, and minimize business and life disruption for his clients, but will not shy away from a fight.”
Meanwhile, Carol Kaplan is joining Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp in the firm’s New York office, which opened in 2008.
She comes from Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison. Before that, she was senior counsel at MTV Networks, working in Nickelodeon’s business and legal affairs department from 2004 to 2006.
Kaplan is particularly strong in the theatrical world, representing first-time and established commercial producers in developing and producing new works as well as representing major studios licensing rights in proprietary materials. She’s also done work in film and television on behalf of documentary producers, directors, screenwriters, financiers, news anchors, chefs and other personalities.
She graduated from New York University School.
“Carol’s experience, running the gamut from legitimate theater, film and TV to new media and book publishing, adds important depth in key New York media and fits well with our already formidable entertainment and music industry practice here,” said Jane Stevens, MS&K’s managing partner in New York. “Her experience on the client side at MTV Networks is obviously a tremendous plus as well. We’re very pleased that she’s chosen to join us.”
