Hall Oates Haulin' Oats - H 2015
Hall & Oates thinks the cereal name Haulin’ Oats hits a little too close to home.
Attorneys for the band’s Daryl Hall and John Oates are suing Early Bird Foods & Co. for phonetic play on Daryl Hall and John Oates’ well-known brand name, according to a complaint alleging trademark infringement filed in New York. The lawsuit goes on to state other companies have tried “to make a connection between the artists’ names and oats-related products,” over the years.

The product from the Brooklyn-based company sells for $27.00 for a three-pack on the Early Bird Foods & Co website. It is touted as being made of wholesome ingredients including rolled oats and maple syrup.
Hall & Oates began collaborating in the early 1970s and went on to write hits such as “Rich Girl” and “Private Eyes.” They continue to tour, and recently had to reschedule a Washington, D.C., show, which was set for March 1, due to Hall coming down with laryngitis caused by a severe cold and flu.
Keeping with the oats theme, Whole Oats is both the name of the singers’ company and 1972 debut album.
