SYDNEY — Scott Hicks will receive the Australian Directors Guild Outstanding Achievement Award at the Guild’s annual awards dinner next week, organizers said Tuesday.
The award, to be presented by actor Geoffrey Rush, is for an outstanding body of work, which includes “Shine,” “Snow Falling on Cedars,” documentary “Glass: A Portrait Of Philip in 12 Parts” and the upcoming Australia-U.K. co-production “The Boys Are Back,” which will have its world première at the upcoming Toronto Film Festival.
Other achievement awards to be presented this year include the Cecil Holmes Award for services to directors, which goes to Paul Cox, and the Michael Carson Award for excellence in TV drama production, to Ken Cameron.
The awards will be presented along with a number of peer-assessed competitive awards in Sydney on September 10.
