A NIGHT AT SARDI’S: I’m happy with the turnout of celebrities and I’m happy with how much money was raised tonight,” Disney president and CEO Robert Iger said at the Alzheimer’s Association’s annual musical revue, A Night at Sardi’s. The Beverly Hilton’s International Ballroom was filled with high-level execs and famous faces, from Jeffrey Katzenberg to Nick Jonas. Host Seth Rogen even took a good-humored jab from Betty White, who said onstage to Rogen: “I’m sorry The Green Hornet was a bomb.” The evening also saw star-studded performances of Cole Porter’s music, including Taye Diggs’ rendition of “It’s All Right With Me.” But the music wasn’t the only high note: The event raised more than $1.5 million for the nonprofit. Iger, who accepted the Abe Burrows Award on behalf of his mother (who had Alzheimer’s) noted, “I have a lot of respect for what they accomplished.” — Lindsay Flans
Mildred Pierce Premiere
At the world premiere of the HBO five-part miniseries Mildred Pierce at the Ziegfeld Theatre, guests were lusting after the pies made famous in the story by Mildred (played by Kate Winslet), who, after separating from her husband, opens a popular L.A.-area cafe during the Great Depression. At the film’s ritzy after-soiree at the Plaza Hotel, pies were plentiful, including lemon meringue and apple crumble. Newly minted Oscar winner Melissa Leo admitted she’s particular about her pies. “There’s something about how you sweeten a cherry pie that makes all the difference,” the actress said. “I don’t do much baking, but who hasn’t made a pie?” — Randee Dawn
