amFAR Inspiration Gala | Los Angeles, Oct. 11: The third annual L.A. amFAR event supported the AIDS research organization and honored Kevin Huvane for his work with the nonprofit. After Sarah Jessica Parker presented the CAA managing partner with the Piaget Inspiration Award, guests watched tribute videos from Glenn Close, Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise (to name a few), and Katy Perry took the stage to perform. “I’m missing the Madonna concert tonight, Kevin,” she said. “But for you, it’s totally worth it.” — Merle Ginsberg
New York Film Festival | New York, Oct. 13-14
A-listers invaded the red carpet at the New York Film Festival, which Denzel Washington attended on clos- ing night to promote his upcoming Robert Zemeckis drama Flight (about a pilot who saves a plane from crashing). A night earlier, stars Bill Murray and Laura Linney came out to support their biopic Hyde Park on Hudson. “He worked so hard to make this work,” director Roger Michell told THR about Murray’s portrayal of Franklin D. Roosevelt, adding that the actor “brings charm — a huge tsunami of charm, mis- chief and a sweetness.” — Erin Carlson
