James Hibberd, an award-winning journalist who has been a leading voice in entertainment news for nearly two decades, is joining The Hollywood Reporter as a writer at large.
Hibberd, who has distinguished himself with expert analysis, breaking news and must-read profiles, will join THR covering genre television and movies, continuing to provide behind-the-scenes, in-depth coverage of the entertainment industry.
This will be a return for Hibberd, who once was TV editor at The Hollywood Reporter.
“James is an incredibly talented writer and reporter, and I’m excited to have him back at The Hollywood Reporter,” said Nekesa Mumbi Moody, THR’s editorial director. “With his great expertise of the industry and strength in breaking news, he will be another great addition to our excellent team, and continue THR’s tradition of expert reporting on the business of Hollywood and the people who drive it.”
“The Hollywood Reporter has an excellent reputation and has produced some of the best entertainment journalism in the country,” said Hibberd. “I’m excited to return to THR to join Nekesa and her stellar team of reporters as they continue to cover this ever-changing industry.”
Hibberd was most recently editor at large at Entertainment Weekly, where he routinely scored scoops with his coverage, including of the Game of Thrones franchise. Last year, he released the book Fire Cannot Kill a Dragon: Game of Thrones and the Official Untold Story of the Epic Series.
Hibberd, is based in Austin, Texas. He will begin his new role on March 8.
