The Hollywood Reporter announced Tuesday that Seth Abramovitch, former editor of Defamer and founding editor of Movieline, has been named deputy editor of THR.com. Noted entertainment journalists Erin Carlson and Jordan Zakarin have also been hired as staff editors for the site.
“I’m very happy to welcome Seth, Erin and Jordan to The Hollywood Reporter; said editorial director Janice Min. “Their talents and diverse backgrounds in online journalism will be an asset as THR.com expands on its position as the number one entertainment news site.”
The website reached a record 5.2 million unique visitors during the month of March according to comScore.

Abramovitch is among the best-known online entertainment journalists, having worked as an editor of the Hollywood blog Defamer and as the founding editor of the influential L.A.-based film and entertainment magazine Movieline. He has also been contributing editor at Gawker and has written for The Atlantic Wire, New York Magazine, The Globe and Mail and TV.com.
Erin Carlson was previously a writer and reporter for The Associated Press where she covered hot-button shows like American Idol and Lost for the newswire’s TV beat. Additionally, Carlson was founding editor of Crushable.com, an entertainment and lifestyle site for young women, and has been an editor at Yahoo! Entertainment.
Jordan Zakarin is former entertainment editor and reporter for The Huffington Post, where he expanded original feature offerings, covered film festivals, major media events and the intersection of politics and entertainment.
THR.com has also promoted Jethro Nededog to senior reporter, THR.com. Nededog writes about television for the site’s No. 1 trafficked blog, “The Live Feed.” He previously wrote and reported for the Los Angeles Times‘ Show Tracker blog, as well as TV news site Zap2it.
The recent hires mark another round of growth at The Hollywood Reporter, which has expanded coverage with the appointments of international business editor Georg Szalai and Eriq Gardner as senior editor in New York this March, and the hiring of noted critics David Rooney (for film and theater) and Deborah Young (for international film) for the magazine this past January.
