Intrepid Pictures is charging into the apocalypse, acquiring the action thriller script “The Fourth Horseman.” F. Paul Benz and Steve Tomlin are set for a rewrite.
The film centers on a young priest sent by his church’s secret order to kill a teenage girl. She is believed to be the future mother of Death, the Fourth Horseman of the Apocalypse, destined to join siblings War, Pestilence and Famine in destroying the world. But when the priest becomes romantically involved with his target and she becomes pregnant, he is forced to face the possibility that he might have spawned the child from hell.
The project will be produced by Intrepid founders Marc D. Evans and Trevor Macy with Mike Karz (“Malibu’s Most Wanted”). The original screenplay by Marshall E. Uzzle and Perry Fair was brought to Intrepid by vp Katherine Brown.
Macy said Intrepid is developing the script with hopes of producing and co-financing it through the company’s nonexclusive first-look deal with Rogue Pictures and Universal Pictures.
Benz and Tomlin wrote the upcoming “Snow Blind” for Paramount Pictures and producer Lorenzo Di Bonaventura. The pair also wrote the Lionsgate thriller “Blind Horizon” starring Val Kilmer, Neve Campbell and Sam Shepard.
The writers are repped by ICM, Hopscotch Pictures and attorney Eric M. Brooks of Bloom Hergott Diemer Rosenthal LaViolette & Feldman.
