David Mott, the TV programmer who brought Big Brother and Masterchef to Australia, will now be in charge of the local version of I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here, after landing the top job at ITV Studios Australia, it was announced Wednesday.
Mott, a former head of programming at Network Ten and currently managing director of the Nine Network’s Perth station, replaces Anita Jacoby who resigned last month. Mott will join ITV Studios in November and will report to Maria Kyriacou, managing director, ITV Studios Global Entertainment and Rest of World.
At the same time, Augustus Dulgaro has been appointed to the newly created position of chief operating officer of ITV Studios Australia. He has been acting ceo at the production outfit since Jacoby’s departure and will continue in his role as executive vice president, Distribution for Asia Pacific for ITV Studios Global Entertainment.
I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here was a hit for Ten when the first season aired here earlier this year. ITV Studios, amongst other programming, is also making a local version of game show The Chase for the Seven Network, which won its timeslot when it premiered earlier those week.
ITV’s Kyriacou said: “David is an incredibly talented executive with unrivalled experience in production and broadcasting in Australia, coupled with a deep and detailed knowledge of viewers and hit programming. He is a fantastic leader with superb instincts, while Augustus has almost a decade of experience of leading ITVS GE’s Asia Pacific sales team to great success. They are a dream team for ITV Studios Australia”.
Mott added: “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to drive the ITV Studios business forward in Australia. ITV Studios has an incredible reputation globally, and I look forward to playing my part in its continued success and growth.”
