Julianna Margulies has been tapped as the lead of CBS’ drama pilot “The Good Wife,” lifting the contingency on the project.
“The Good Wife,” from CBS Par and Scott Free Prods., is a female-driven law show about a politician’s wife (Margulies) who pursues her original career as a defense attorney.
It’s a familiar setting for Margulies, who played a fearless attorney on the short-lived Fox drama series “Canterbury’s Law.”
Robert and Michelle King penned the script for “The Good Wife,” which will be directed by Charles McDougall, who also helmed the pilot for ABC’s “Desperate Housewives.”
“ER” alumna Margulies is returning to the NBC medical drama that made her a household name. She is set to appear alongside former castmates Eriq La Salle, Noah Wyle and possibly George Clooney on the March 12 episode of the Emmy-winning series, set to end its 15-season run on April 2.
