French media company Lagardere is rebranding its entertainment group to put a more definitive stamp on its global content production division and its growth ambitions.
Its entertainment arm will be rebranded under the name Lagardere Studios and will reorganize into four groups: French TV production, international TV production, formats acquisition/distribution and digital. The company will put increased focus on international development.
The name change is another step for the company that is seeking to increase its European and international profile outside of France and become a major player in the production of audiovisual content globally.
“The Lagardere Studios strategy is to continue its expansion drive, consolidating and extending its leading position in France and developing it in Europe,” said Lagardere Studios president Takis Candilis.
Lagardere produces shows such as Borgia and Transporter the Series under its Atlantique Productions banner, as well as local hits Clem and the Murder in … series under its Merlin Productions label.
This is the latest branding change for Lagardere, which grouped together and rebranded its sports marketing agencies as Lagardere Sports and Entertainment on Sept. 15. That division also has a content creation aspect for sports rights holders, brands and athletes represented by its agencies as the company moves to be a fully integrated media and content company.
