Authorities have made an arrest in connection with a beach boardwalk hit and run that killed one person and wounded up to a dozen people.
A 38-year-old man, Nathan Campbell, turned himself into authorities on Saturday night, LAPD public information officer Rosario Herrera told The Hollywood Reporter.
He is currently held in custody in LAPD’s jail division booked for murder with bail set at $1 million. No motive has yet been determined.
Ten of twelve victims in the crash were taken to area hospitals and one died hours after the crash.
On Sunday morning, news vehicles for KTLA 5, KNBC, ABC7 and KNX 1070 am were on the scene of the incident near Dudley Avenue, where reporters were setting up cameras and interviewing street vendors who were unpacking their wares.
Cafes saw a steady stream of diners fill outside tables close to the area where the vehicle caused mayhem a day earlier. A police car was also nearby on patrol at the boardwalk section.
The area regularly draws large crowds of tourists, local pedestrians, bikers and skateboarders during the summer months.
