Meg Whitman‘s unsuccessful bid for Calif. governor in 2010 has not made her less marketable in the workplace. The former eBay CEO is being eyed as the next CEO of Hewlett-Packard, according to reports.
Whitman would replace current CEO Leo Apotheker, but sources said the executive shuffle “is by no means a done deal,” notes the Wall Street Journal‘s All Things D blog. Whitman led eBay for 10 years and has worked as a part-time consultant at venture firm Kleiner Perkins since April 2011.

Whitman has been looking for a top exec job at a major tech company since losing her gubernatorial run, notes All Things D.
HP’s board plans to meet soon to discuss Apotheker’s outster, reports Bloomberg. Apotheker has held the position for less than a year, at which time the company’s stock has dropped 47 percent. He came to HP after a 10-month stint as CEO of German software maker SAP.
