Jon Miller, chief digital officer, chairman and CEO of the digital media group at News Corp., will receive the new Digital Power Player award June 2 at a New York event hosted by The Hollywood Reporter.
The newly created event and honor, given to an executive who exemplifies leadership in the intersecting fields of technology and entertainment, are set to coincide with the release of THR’s second annual Digital Power 50 special report and Internet Week New York.
Internet Week New York runs June 1-8 and is operated by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences in cooperation with the Mayor’s Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting.
“We’re delighted to be honoring Jon Miller for his vision and accomplishments in the world of digital media,” said Andrew Wallenstein, digital media editor at THR. “What better time to host an event saluting him than during Internet Week New York and while our special report on the Digital Power 50 is recognizing excellence among executives in this exciting new sector.”
In a Q&A with Wallenstein, Miller will talk about his challenges at News Corp. and reflect on his career, which has included stints in top posts at AOL and Velocity Interactive Group. All executives named to this year’s Digital Power 50 will be invited to the cocktail event from 6-8 p.m. June 2 at the Waldorf-Astoria.
For a second consecutive year, THR’s Digital Power 50 will recognize 50 execs working in digital entertainment who have distinguished themselves with innovative work. (partialdiff)
