Paramount Pictures launched a new mobile service Thursday that gives users access to the studio’s branded content and movie listings in the palm of their hand.
Created in collaboration with mobile content applications provider Crisp Wireless, the service acts as a portal where users can browse theater locations, download video clips and trailers, purchase movie tickets and mobile ringtones and opt to receive other Paramount promotions.
“Paramount Pictures will now have a direct-to-consumer relationship to deliver revenue-generating content, innovative mobile campaigns, tailored promotions, DVD/retail tie-ins and collaborative partnerships with technology and media partners,” said Sandi Isaacs, senior vp interactive and mobile at Paramount Digital Entertainment.
Although the service’s mobile storefront will officially launch in February, users who text “MOVIES” to 33287 can now download promotional ringtones and images. When the storefront launches, premium content will be priced consistently with what’s currently available through carrier browsers. Links to sites related to Paramount movies also are provided.
“Paramount has developed a unique blueprint for promoting movies to a mobile audience, and we are thrilled to help them deliver this user experience,” Crisp Wireless CEO Boris Fridman said.
Crisp Wireless, which uses the mLogic media platform, specializes in the development and management of mobile commerce solutions across all carriers and handsets.
