TOKYO — MTV Networks Japan has appointed Shigeo Numakura senior vice president and managing director, returning to the company after a two-year stint heading KNTV, a Japanese cable channel that broadcasts Korean content.
The appointment is effective September 1, and will see Numakura responsible for MTV Japan, Nickelodeon, digital media, program sales and consumer products. Based at MTV Japan’s Tokyo HQ, Numakura will report to Indra Suharjono, executive VP and MD of MTV Networks North and Southeast Asia.
“I am very happy to welcome Numakura-san back to MTV Networks as he is one of the most respected and astute businessmen in the Japanese media industry,” Suharjono said in a statement.
Numakura previously served as chairman of MTV Japan from 2001 to 2008.
