MTV and VH1 have inked an exclusive first-look deal with Jamie Foxx and his producing partners, Jaime Rucker King and Marcus King, for reality television projects.
The two-year deal calls for the trio to provide executive producer services in connection with developing, supervising, producing and consulting on MTV and VH1 programming.
Meanwhile, MTV said that the first project coming out of this deal already is in development: “From Gs to Gents,” in which guys compete to become gentlemen.
“Having already established himself as an actor, comedian and musician, Jamie will undoubtedly bring his own brand of creativity and unpredictability to the development process,” said Van Toffler, president of MTV Networks Music/Logo/Films Group.
Added Brian Graden, president of entertainment at MTV Networks Music Channels: “Jamie Foxx is a true renaissance man with the golden touch in film, television and music. He takes chances and breaks new ground.”
It’s not the first deal at Viacom for Foxx and his producing partners at FoxxKing Entertainment. They had a two-year first-look deal with Paramount and MTV Films that was inked in October 2005.
Oscar winner Foxx also has made numerous appearances on MTV, including hosting the 2001 Video Music Awards.
Said Marcus King: “We are thrilled to be working again with Van Toffler and MTV Networks. We couldn’t have found a better partner to share our vision and enable us to bring our reality television projects to fruition.”
The deal was brokered by CAA and attorneys Nina Shaw, Loan Dang and Gordon Bobb.
