London-based “curated” SVOD service Mubi has tapped Roberto Soto as COO.
Soto, a former Fox International Channels and Liberty Global executive, joins the company with immediate effect and will report to founder-CEO Efe Cakarel.
“It’s an honor and I am really excited to join the amazing Mubi team in this journey,” said Soto. “We have a fantastic value proposition and a committed team that passionately cares about great cinema. We are excited about all the great news that we want to share with our subscribers and Mubi fans in the future.”
The appointment comes at a time of a major growth push for Mubi. Last month, the service announced it was expanding into the most populous country on earth, with a $50 million investment from Hong Long-listed entertainment banner Huanxi to help it launch across China later this year. The deal valued Mubi at $125 million.
