Participant Prods. has appointed former ICM exec Robert Murphy as CFO and executive vp.
Murphy will take over responsibilities that had been handled by the outfit’s founding CFO and executive vp business affairs Jeff Ivers, who company execs said will remain at the company with expanded duties.
“Bob’s arrival will allow Jeff to focus on Participant’s increasing film development and production slate,” CEO Jim Berk said. “Jeff will be expanding his responsibilities beyond film into other media platforms as well as into mergers and acquisitions.”
Ivers does not have a new title.
Murphy will report to Berk. His duties will include overseeing financial operations and contributing ideas to the company’s long-term strategies.
He joined ICM in 1997 as CFO and executive vp, handling all financial duties as well as strategic support of clients and agents in entertainment, news and commercial areas.
Before ICM, Murphy was senior vp and CFO of Walt Disney Motion Pictures Group, overseeing financial operations for all Walt Disney Studios releases and coordinating financial activities for its Miramax Films, Walt Disney Theatrical Prods. and Hollywood Records divisions.
During that time, Murphy briefly served as an interim vp and CFO at Disney Interactive, following four years as vp finance and administration at Buena Vista Pictures Marketing and Distribution. He began his career with eight years at PepsiCo.
